Civil War tin box for personal items, I have seen these containing brass shoulder scales. Box measures 4.5" W, 7 3/4" L, 1 3/4" D. Painted black with a lined border design. What makes this box special is the lid, a beautiful American Eagle with E Pluribus Unum banner being held in the beak adorns the top, in addition to olive branches and flag shield. The colors are vivid and wonderful. The box is in very good condition overall with expected age scuffing marks and handling wear. The inside of the lid bears the owners initials in red script.
