The original paper label is remaining with a fine brown tone to the paper. On the front it has the printed label that states it contains "6 COMBUSTIBLE ENVELOPE CARTRIDGES MADE OF HAZARD'S POWDER EXPRESSLY FOR COL. COLT'S PATENT REVOLVING POCKET PISTOL. ADDRESS COLT'S CARTRIDGE WORKS HARTFORD, CONN. U.S. AMERICA". The piece measures 2.5" by 1-3/8" in overall size. Still retains the original brass end wire to open. There is a note that accompanies stating the it is from the estate of Commissioned Field & Staff Surgeon Will Marshall of the 3rd Delaware Infantry. The unit saw extensive battle action at South Mountain, Antietam, Cold Harbor, Petersburg, Five Forks, Appomattox Court House, to mention a few. This will be a fantastic addition when it is displayed beside your Colt revolver.
