Scarce early Remington O/U Derringer, .41 caliber. This is the early type I production, circa 1866 with the barrel markings in the center of the side barrel ribs. Also manufactured with NO extractor. Estimated quantity at less than 2,000 manufactured. Another early feature are the original wood grips. The condition overall is very good+. Metal frame is a smooth age-grey patina, uncleaned. The barrel retaining most of their original nickle finish, starting to wear thin. The barrel hinges are perfect. Very clear barrel markings on both sides. The wood grips are fine with average age handling wear, right panel with a few age worn over bumps, also 4 hash "kill" marks along the bottom edge. Left panel with carved initials "D.T.". The mechanics are excellent with firing pin working properly. #682 on bottom of the barrel. Bores need a light cleaning. These 1st models are seldom encountered in any condition.
