Civil War Smith & Wesson No. 1 second issue revolver. .22 short rimfire, 7-shot. Serial #79440 matching, circa 1864. Barrel and cylinder are a smooth age brown, top of barrel and cylinder with clear Smith & Wesson markings. Barrel hinge with ever so slight play. Bore shows rifling, needs a cleaning. Frame and backstrap with practically all of the original nickel plating still remaining. 2-piece rosewood grips are very good with no cracks or chips and showing traces of the original varnish. Mechanics are very good, spring for cylinder notch stop is somewhat weak, needs a minor adjustment. Missing the shell ejector rod. Brown leather original holster is decent showing wear overall.
