Civil War era single-shot .42 caliber smoothbore boot pistol. Approximately 7" overall length. Most likely Belgian with the only marking "9" on the octagon barrel in front of the triggerguard. Mechanics are tight, holding in both positions. Metal overall is a smooth aged-grey. The one-piece wooden bag-style grip is very good free of any cracks, an old worn chip to the right side. A weapon used by both sides during the war for hand to hand combat.
