Scarce "blued" Chicago Palm pistol. Serial #5557 matching. Marked on one sideplate "CHICAGO FIRE ARMS CO., CHICAGO, ILL. and on the other side "THE PROTECTOR" with patent dates. .32 caliber extra short rimfire. Metal is an overall smooth age brown patina, with original blue showing through. Retains the original 2-piece mother of pearl side plates. They both are very good, one with a very small trivial edge chip, the other also with a trivial edge chip and negligible age surface crack, practically unnoticeable. The hard rubber plunger is in very good condition, exhibiting hardly any wear to the sharp checkering.. Mechanics are tight. This exact gun is pictured as part of the collection which was held at The Stagecoach Museum Gun Collection at Shakopee, Minnesota, now dispersed. The book accompanies the gun. These have always been desirable oddities. Truly a piece of Chicago history being manufactured only 20 some years after the Great Chicago Fire.
