Civil War "Buthcher's" amputation saw. Period saw of the Civil War era used by both butcher's and surgeon's on the field for amputation, hence the term for a field surgeon "butcher". See Lord's "Civil War Collector's Encyclopedia". This example is in excellent condition overall. 17.5" in length. Blade is a dull-aged steel, straight with sharp teeth. The wooden handle is exceptional overall with the slightest handling wear. Great for display.
