Civil War or earlier bleeding cup. In excellent condition with no chips, exhibiting air bubbles to the glass and a slight color tint. Large blown seam present. This example measures approximately 2 1/4" in height, and about 1 3/4" in diameter at the mouth. This item was a classic medical device of the period, being heated and then placed on the infected area to raise the blood to the skin for lancing. Amazing to have survived the years.
