Original circa 1859 Playbill featuring a performance of "OUR AMERICAN COUSIN" at the Boston Museum. This playbill lists the full cast. It measures approximately 4 5/8" X 7 3/4" and remains in excellent condition with only a small chip at the top left corner with no creases or repairs. This historic piece came from among a grouping of mid to late 1850's theater playbills. Although undated, reference records show that the Boston Museum did indeed feature a performance of Our American Cousin in 1859. Also as stated on the playbill "SATURDAY AFTERNOON, MARCH 26TH", March 26th in 1859 did fall on a Saturday. In addition, it is known that Mrs. W. C. Gladstane's last performance was in the late 1850's. A desirable piece of the last play President Lincoln would have attended on that fatal evening in 1865. In a good size, easy to display.
